Richmond to Townsville (July 2015)

After the sad morning burying Flickie, we return to the bus. I throw her sleeping basket in a wheely-bin; it feels very weird. Then we’re ready to let this place behind us. The road is awaiting us, party of seven rather than eight. We are focusing now on getting to Cairns, but not before we meet up with our RVTS friends in Townsville. Michael and Nadine with their three daughters live in a beautiful home, with the neighbour’s block being vacant. We are allowed to park there for two night. We won’t go into too much detail about the scratch we make in the tarmac with our jockey-wheel getting into the yard.
Catching up with our friends is very nice indeed, especially because all the children are now big enough to really hang out together. For the ultimate Aussie experience Michael throws some Shrimps on the Barbie as well as sausages, steaks and seafood. Next morning we set out to explore Townsville’s highlights, namely Castle Hill and The Strand. A lovely relaxing way to spend a Saturday.
